Why Are Valves Particularly Important?

On a pipeline, straight runs are relatively easy to insulate with sheet-metal cladding. However, valves, flanges and elbows are most often left "open for maintenance." Research shows that uninsulated valves and flanges in a typical industrial plant account for 30-50% of total line heat loss.

According to ISO 12241 calculations, an uninsulated DN100 Globe valve carrying 180°C steam loses approximately 600-800 W continuously to ambient air. Over a year, this figure corresponds to a significant energy cost.
